Ellie Garvey is an Indianapolis-based jewelry designer and children’s book author/illustrator. She studied Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design at Indiana University (2006) and then went on to work in fashion jewelry design in San Francisco, CA, designing collections for corporate markets such as Nordstrom and Macy's (2006-2008). Since settling in Indianapolis in 2010, Ellie has been designing and fabricating her own jewelry collections for online marketplaces, group exhibitions, art fairs/festivals, and private commissions.

In 2016, the first of Ellie’s three daughters was born, which began her fascination with the themes of childhood. She began to write and illustrate content for children’s literature to align her creative endeavors with the developmental stages of her children.

Ellie is a 2024-2025 RSA (Religion, Spirituality, and Arts) fellow (IU Herron School of Art & Design). She was a 2022-2023 Creative Renewal Arts fellow (Arts Council of Indianapolis, funded by Eli Lilly Foundation). For Ellie’s renewal, she spent March of 2023 camping on the island of Kauai (the rainbow capital of the world), documenting her three young daughters as they attempted to hunt rainbows. She is currently engaged in the retrospective process of writing and illustrating her new children’s book entitled, “Rainbow Detectives.”

Ellie has published works in permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library in Los Angeles, CA. She has exhibited across the country and has participated in New York’s Upstate Art Weekend. Her work can be found on Artsy, represented by Dama Gallery and has been featured on the Jumbotron billboard in Time Square, represented by HMVC Gallery, NY. Her memberships include SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths), SCBWI (The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), and NCS (National Collage Society).
